2010 Cruiser Rules

 

Mission: This class is a beginner class designed to get someone started in racing, at a low cost, entry level with all the fun that comes with racing.

 

General Overview:

 

1.     Track reserves the right to enforce the mission statement of the class at any time.

2.     Passenger and/or driver can be as young as 13 years old to compete. (Proof may be requested at any given time).

3.     No way will the rules be interpreted to allow a vehicle that is technically superior to dominate the class.  Nor constructed in an unsafe fashion that poses a danger to the operator or other competitors.

4.     All vehicles will receive a one-time initial tech inspection. All cars will be inspected and approved before the vehicle is allowed to participate in the first race of the season.  In addition, all vehicles are subject to nightly random inspections by tech officials and to include race winner.

5.     Drivers may not be entered in any other class that evening/day without prior approval.

6.     Numbers will be registered for one season. No triple digit numbers and no duplicate numbers. If there are duplicate numbers, a letter will be required to be added at beginning or at end.

7.     This class will have a no tolerance rule for rough driving. A three ring binder will be used to file the results of all offenses and inspections for each vehicle. Any areas identified as deficient or not in compliance will be identified in writing. If the vehicle is unsafe or illegal, that vehicle will be disqualified from competition until the problem is resolved among tech/track officials and/or cruiser representatives.

8.     All other track rules, policies and procedures will apply.

9.     Any American or foreign made car.  No turbo, super chargers, or rotary engines. The major mechanical components of the vehicle are to remain OEM.

SAFETY:

 

The following is the minimum requirement to participate in the cruiser division:

Driver/Passenger will have helmets (Snell 95 approved or M or SA) with eye protection. Work/Safety Boots or leather shoes, Gloves and Fire Retardant suits.

All vehicles MUST HAVE a two pound working fire extinguisher. It must be mounted within reach of the driver.

Window nets are mandatory for driver and passenger window/door openings. Net release should be within easy reach of driver.

Factory stock seats, and seat belts, with functional shoulder belts are required at minimum but, race seats with five point harness is recommended.

 All windshields must be completely removed. Full front window screen (metal mesh) covering both driver/passenger with metal center support, from top to bottom of window opening. (NO Plastic/Glass) All glass must be vacuumed out of vehicle.

Battery will be soundly secured; can be behind driver mounted to satisfaction of tech committee.

No fuel lines in drivers compartment, and fuel cells allowed.

All doors/trunk will be welded, bolted or chained shut.

The use of a reinforced or after market steel (spoke type) wheel is recommended for the right front tire.

Master kill switch is optional.

Passenger must be provided with a “hang on” bar. This may be mounted from the dash, floorboard or door bars and must be accessible to passenger while belted in. Location cannot impede entry and exit of passenger from car, or pose a risk to passenger in the event of an accident.

Sunroofs must be covered with metal.

Roll bar requirements: minimum 1 ½ inch .095 wall thickness, steel tube/pipe. One overhead hoop and two rear support kickers with one cross bar behind driver/passenger seats. Roll bar should be welded to frame. If welded to floor pan a 3”x3”x1/8” steel plate is required at all junctions, if bolting to floor a 3” x3”x 1/8”20 steel plate is required at all junctions plus a  3”x3”x1/8” backing plate is required. Two door bars are MANDATORY.

 

BODIES:

 

OEM stock exhaust past driver, one muffler MANDATORY.

No Mud tires of any kind or any type of racing tire.

Street tires only NO GROOVING, with a maximum tread contact width of 8 inches.

Domestic and import two wheel passenger cars only.

No pick-up trucks, vans, jeeps, sport utilities or convertibles.

All glass, chrome, lights, mirrors and plastic must be removed from interior or exterior.

All combustible interior to be removed with the exception of the front seats, rear seat should be removed.

Front and rear factory stock bumpers mandatory.

Bumpers will be safely chained to frame.

Stock steel unaltered floor pan, firewalls, trunk, wheels, wells, and door panels must be retained.

Must have tow chains front and rear fastened securely to bumper or frame.

No trimming of manufacture’s structural body allowed except for roll cage fit.

Machine must start on own power and have both forward and reverse motion and adequate four-wheel breaking ability.

All engines using carburetor or fuel injection only, vehicles must have stock air cleaner.

Vehicles power train items to be factory stock for the particular model (chevy-chevy, olds- olds, ford- ford etc.) and located in the original locations. Carburetor to oil pan, water pump to rear differential cover will remain stock in nature.

Brakes and suspension will remain factory issue.

No suspension modifications allowed. (i.e. Spring spacers, axle tie downs, weight jacks, ballast etc.) A/C, heaters and smog devices may be removed. Must have stock exhaust manifolds, mufflers, and must be unaltered, functional and soundly attached.

 

NO PERFORMANCE PARTS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED

 

The word “STOCK” means: unaltered and as originally produced for that year, make and model, including after-market replacement parts.
