Pro Stocks

2010 Pro Stock Rules

UCS general track rules supersede car division rules.  2010 division rules supersede all previous editions of the STREET STOCK class rules.  Minimum age to compete in Street Stock is 16 years old.

I-stocks may run with the Pro Stock class, but it will be inspected to IMCA rules. Your car must conform to either IMCA or UCS Pro Stock rules, not both.

BODY STYLE

The car body must be USA manufacturer factory steel body or OEM, front-engine passenger.  Factory or aftermarket exterior body parts are allowed.  Aftermarket body panels must match the contour of the OEM body panel.  Firewall and floor pan can be removed but must be replaced with 20 gauge metal, and must go past the drivers seat. Anything with 20 gauge metal frame must be x braced.  Plastic nose and tailpieces are allowed.  FIBERGLASS  BODY PANELS ARE NOT ALLOWED.  Aluminum bodies are permitted, but the stock roof and stock appearing nose piece must remain (no wedge noses). Open rear ends are permitted, but a pipe bumper must be in place.

CHASSIS

The chassis must be one hundred (100) inch wheelbase or more. It must remain the same type as the body being used (for example: Camaro for Camaro, etc).  No tubular or aftermarket chassis’.  Stock front and rear frames rails only no tubular frame rails. Frame connectors are allowed.

WEIGHT

All cars must weight at least 3000 pounds and no more than 3600 pounds, clean, with the driver. All cars will be weighed first time on the track and randomly during the season.

BALLAST

The recommended ballast to be used is extra roll cage bars or other types of reinforcement. Any removable ballast mounting is subject to the Tech Committee’s approval.  A ballast weight attached to the car must be painted white and the car number painted on it.  A twenty-five ($25) dollar fine will be assessed to the driver if the ballast is lost on the racetrack.

WHEEL WELLS

Fenders may reasonably trimmed for tire clearance only. The front and rear inner wells may be removed but rear wells are recommended.

BUMPERS

A stock bumper with stock mounts where possible.  All others are subject to approval by the Tech Committee.  Bumpers may be reinforced with one piece of pipe size one and five-eights (1 5/8”) inches maximum OD.  All pipes must be rounded on the edges.  Reinforcements must be concealed.  Bumpers must be strapped to fenders.  Front and rear tow loops are required and must be sufficient to lift car and allow easy hook up to tow truck. No exposed nerf bars allowed.  Rub rails will be allowed flush with body (Max 1” for width by 2” for height).

WHEELS

Eight (8) inch to 8.75 inch wide wheels only. The Tech Committee MUST approve all wheels and tires.  Wheel offsets are optional. Bead locks are optional but cannot be any wider then 8.75”.  Bleeder valves are not allowed.  No wheel weights are permitted.  Wide fives (hubs) are permitted.  No aluminum wheels.  1” lug nuts are mandatory.

TIRES

Tires may not exceed twelve (12) inches from tread width.  No studded, knobby, or mud and snow tires.  No variance!  Street or racing tires may be used.  All tires may be cross-grooved.  Tires of top three cars may be checked without notice after any race at the discretion of UCS officials.

FRONT SUSPENSION

The front suspension MUST BE THE ORIGINAL TYPE with modifications for handling and safety.  Upper tubular arms mounted in stock position are optional.  WEIGHT JACKS are optional; no devices allowed that would permit driver adjustment during competition. Multiple shocks per wheel are optional.

SUSPENSION

Racing springs and shocks are allowed. No coil over units or coil eliminators.  Rear shocks may be moved to accomodate rear end and weight jacks.  Metric cars can beef up trailing arms, not adjustable, must remain in stock position.  Sliders for leaf spring cars stock location permitted as long as spring is in stock position.  As long as spring is stock mount in front.  Ford 9 inch floaters are allowed.  No bird cages allowed.

REAR AXLES

Locked or posi-traction rear ends are permitted.  Nine (9) inch Ford rear ends are optional, mounted in stock position.  No quick-change rear ends.  Must have stock trailing arm, reinforcement allowed and no heims.  Solid bar to stablize rear end, non adjustable from rear to frame.  No panhard bars. 

ENGINE

GM for GM cars. Ford for Ford products. Dodge for Dodge, etc.  Overbore CANNOT exceed 0.060.  NO POP UP PISTONS (any piston exceeding above cylinder wall, regardless of year, make or model).  Solid lifters are allowed.  No polished ported heads. After market heads are allowed.  Headers are allowed.  Aluminum intakes are allowed. Roller rockers are permitted.  No roller cams allowed. No aluminum heads. External ignition boxes are permitted.

ENGINE SET BACK

The centerline of the leading spark plug hole must be even with, or in front of, the centerline of the upper ball joint.

TRANSMISSION

OEM transmissions are required, no racing transmissions allowed.  Manual Transmissions:  must have operational clutch.  Mini clutches are allowed.  Spuds or direct drive devices are not allowed.  Automatic Transmissions:  torque converters are optional.  The driver will be required to demonstrate that the car can be placed in a forward gear, move the car a short distance, come to a complete stop, place transmission in reverse and move the car backwards a short distance while the engine is running!  This demonstration will be required the first time that the car is brought to the track, and may be requested by the tech committee on a random basis.

CARBURETOR

One carburetor is permitted.  Aluminum manifolds are allowed.  Carburetor adapters are optional.   One adapter is permitted, on (1) inch only.  No superchargers, turbochargers or fuel injection allowed!  NO RAM AIR!  No predator carburetors.

ROLLCAGE

All cars must have a roll cage of minimum 1 ½” schedule .095 steel tubing. Roll cage must have four vertical uprights, (must have: “halo” roof support system made of roll cage material, Minimum .095, two rear angle supports, front nose loop and tail section loop, a minimum of three horizontal door bars on the driver’s and passenger’s side. Drivers door must have a minimum of 16 gauge plate located between the door skin and the outside of the  door bars.   All stress points must have gussets. The windshield must have center vertical bar of minimum of 1”OD pipe, a minimum of three windshield bars or heavy gauge metal screen covering the windshield opening in front of the driver. Dash bar is required. Uni-body cars, which have no frame to which attach the roll cage, must have minimum 6” X 6” steel plates welded to the floorboard. Uni-body cars may connect the front and rear sub frames with boxed tubing.

SEATS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Seats must be mounted to the roll cage and/or frame. NOT TO THE FLOORBOARD! Seat must be braced on the bottom, lower back and upper back. An approved padded headrest is MANDATORY! It MUST be attached to the seat or roll cage. A 5-point safety harness system (lap belt, shoulder harness, anti-sub belt, must be SFI approved) with quick release latch required. Belts must be securely mounted to the roll cage only. NOT TO THE FLOORBOARD! Follow diagram for proper installation of safety belts. Each driver must have a full racing fire suit, a helmet with face shield; Snell/DOT approved and a neck support brace Flameproof gloves are mandatory.  Flame retardant foot protection is mandatory (SFI Approved racing shoes or leather boots/shoes). Drivers must have a window net or use arm restraints. No fiberglass or plastic seats.

DRIVER’S COMPARTMENT

A 2-½ pound ABC fire extinguisher must be securely mounted with a safety latch within the driver’s reach. All fire extinguishers must be fully charged and equipped with a working gauge. All cars must have a firewall between the driver and the engine, and a firewall between the driver and the fuel cell. Drivers must be completely separated from the track. Fuel lines that run through the driver’s compartment must be enclosed from firewall to firewall by electrical conduit and securely fastened.

BATTERY

The battery must be securely fastened inside a metal frame. If the battery is in the driver’s compartment it also must be inside a well secured covered box. All batteries must be completely isolated from the driver.

FUEL CELL

Fuel cells are mandatory for all cars/classes except for Thunder bombers and Hornets. The fuel cell should be mounted within the main confines of the chassis and roll cage. All fuel cells must be encased in a steel container.  All fuel cells must have flapper valve. 

TRANSMISSIONS

All standard transmissions must have blow proof bell housing or a protective scatter shield. Scatter shield must be a minimum of ¼” thick.

DRIVESHAFT

All cars must have a safety loop around the drive shaft securely mounted within 6” of the front U-joint. The drive shaft must be painted white.

MIRRORS

Rear view mirrors are not allowed in any car class.

IDENTIFICATION

Numbers must be at least 18” high and 2” wide on both sides of the car. The top number must be at least 20” high and 3” wide. UCS Officials have the right to temporarily change car numbers to avoid duplication. Car numbers may be registered for a $5.00 fee.

BRAKES

Four (4) wheel hydraulic brakes in good operating condition are REQUIRED. No shut-off valve on ANY brake line is allowed. No brake bias valves are permitted. Any car with non-working right brake is subject to not being allowed to compete. In the event, after a race, the car is inspected by the tech committee and is found to have a non-working right front brake, that night’s purse and points will be forfeited.

REMOVEABLE ITEMS

All glass, plastic, upholstery, rear seat, lights, mirrors, and chrome must be removed.

BODIES

All damages incurred during a race must be reasonably repaired by the next event. This applies to all classes. Hood and deck lid must be on the car if it is on the racing surface. All bumpers must be in place and securely fastened to be on the racing surface. If the hood of a car flies up while it is on the racing surface, and the driver is able to maintain vision and control of the car, the car will be permitted to finish the race.

FUEL TYPE

Pump fuel or racing gasoline ONLY. No methanol or alcohol.

RADIATOR

Any type of radiator may be used. The radiator must be mounted in from of the engine. Cooling system is allowed if shielded from the driver.

OTHER

Operational self-starters are required. Cars MUST start under their own power. A master kill switch is mandatory and must be mounted on the left side of the car and marked by a 3” arrow and must be accessible from the outside by pit personnel. No two-way communication devices allowed in racecar.
