2010 Pure-Stock rules

DRIVER
1. Drivers shall be at least fourteen (14) years of age.
2. Drivers fourteen (14) years of age but less than eighteen (18) years of age are required to have written permission and proof of age to compete, and it must be signed by their parent or guardian.
3. NO PASSENGERS WILL BE ALLOWED.
4. Helmets are required, shall be in good condition and shall have a minimum Snell rating of SA2000 or greater.
5. A fire suit, fire resistant gloves and neck brace are required. Head sock and safety shoes recommended.
  
CAR AND BODY

1.Stock American passenger automobile with factory steel top.  No T-tops or convertibles.  Must be front engine, rear-wheel drive.  No front-wheel drives, four-wheel drives, or rear engines.  3250 lbs minimum weight after race with driver.
2. Uni-body cars shall have the front and rear sub frames tied together with a minimum 1” x 2” x 1/8” steel tubing.
3. One hundred Inch (100”) wheel base minimum for all cars, same on both sides.  NO TOLERANCE.
4. All bodies shall be steel and strictly stock.  Cars shall have full and complete floorboards, visible from passenger window, must have OEM radiator support in stock location.
5. Shall have a solid firewall between the driver’s compartment and the gas tank/trunk area.
6. The firewall between driver compartment and engine shall be in stock location with no modifications and all holes covered with metal.
7. Hood and trunk shall be securely fastened closed with pins.
8. Hood shall be sealed off at firewall with metal so that no hot water/oils can get to driver’s compartment.
9. All doors shall be bolted or welded shut.
10. Bumpers shall be in stock location and stock type of vehicle used.  Front and rear bumpers shall be capped to fenders.  No after market nosepieces or “cow catchers”.  No re-enforcement to bumpers.
11. May have a sun visor on the top of the windshield.  Seven (7) inch maximum. All cars must have a front window mesh.
12. Front wheel wells may be removed.  Rear wheel wells must remain intact.  All wheel openings may be cut for tire clearance, edges to be rolled over.
13. Cutting of metal out of car shall be kept to a minimum.  The only cutting allowed will be for placement of roll cage (from A pillar to rear wheel well from top of door skin to he rocker panel)  and tire clearance, and the spare tire carrier on some chevy vehicles. Do not gut the trunk lids or trunk area, rear package tray, rear seat back mount structure, a pillar kick panels, cockpit floor braces, front fire walls, dash mounts, wiper ledge, do not “trim down” the front fenders.  No gutting trunks allowed. May gut doors and Body  panels                                                                                        
14. All glass, plastic, upholstery, rear seat, lights, mirrors and chrome shall be removed.
15. All sharp edges, torn fenders and body panels shall be repaired prior to next race.
16. No spoilers, wings, skirts, air scoops, or the like that alters the stock appearance shall be used.              
17. Steel rub rails no larger than 1” x 2” may be attached to the body from fender well to fender well flush with body and painted to match the vehicle, ends must be tapered.
18. Throttle and brake pedals to be in stock location. NO RACING BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS. If a clutch is installed in an automatic car, a stand-alone hydraulic clutch pedal may be installed either hanging or on the floor. Do not obstruct the other panels.  

ELECTRICAL

1. Battery shall be enclosed in a plastic or metal battery box located behind the driver’s seat or in the trunk. All battery boxes must be securely fastened to the car, no bungee cords!
2. Battery shall be securely fastened to cage or frame in a metal frame by means of a metal strap (minimum 1/8 inch thick) and bolts (minimum 3/8”) shall sandwich the battery between the strap and the metal frame.
3.A top shall be in place to cover the battery box.
4. All cars shall have a kill switch located on the left side of the dash and it shall be clearly marked, ON, OFF.
5. All cars must be equipped with a starter and must be capable of starting under their own power.

 ROLL-BARS/CAGE AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT

1. Roll cage and door bars shall be made from minimum .095 inch thick tubing, with a minimum diameter of 1 1/2 “.
2. Roll cage must be full perimeter four (4) post roll cage with. X brace behind driver and rear hoop is recommended.
3. Rear hoop shall be mounted inside trunk for the purpose of fuel tank protection.
4. Rear hoop attached to fame in no more than two (2) spots on the right side and more than two (2) spots on the left side just inside of trunk pan made of a maximum of 2” (diameter) and .95 (wall) tubing.
5. Front hoop maximum 2” .95 wall tubing, no wider than frame rails.  Shall not extend past factory sheet metal.  No more than 2 bars in front of radiator.
6. Door bars shall have three (3) horizontal bars on the driver’s side and two (2) on the right side, with uprights that tie all bars together. Door bar plate with a minimum thickness of 16 gauge steel, securely welded to the outside of driver’s door bars. It must cover area from top door bar to lower door bar and cover seat from front to back.Shall have one (1) cross bar in top of halo on roll cage minimum .095 thick 1 1/2” tubing.
7. Roll cage shall be padded around driver.
8. Race seat required and shall be mounted to roll cage.
9. Shall have a window net on driver’s side, with a latch on upper front corner. Seat belt type latch is recommended.
10. Shall have three (3) bars in front of the driver in the windshield area.
11. Five (5) point safety belts required. Belts shall be mounted to roll cage.  Belts shall be in good condition and are subject to inspection at any time during the season.  Belts shall be from racing equipment supplier.  (NO HOME MADE BELTS ALLOWED).
12. A fully charged chemical or CO2 fire extinguisher is required, 2 ½ pound minimum, mounted with a quick release handle within easy reach of the driver.  Must have metal gauge. 

FUEL AND FUEL SYSTEM

1. Stock gas tank must be removed from under the car.
2. Maximum 22-gallon cell required must be in a steel container with a minimum 18-gauge thickness. Must be securely fastened in trunk above level of stock floor, by a minimum of two .125-inch thick solid steel straps, two inches wide around entire cell. All cell mounts must be steel, securely welded to frame/cage. No adjustable fuel cells. Fuel cell vents, including cap vent, must have check valves. Recommend a hose on the top of valve to eliminate spillage due to splash.
3. No outside fillers allowed.
4. A minimum of six (6) drainage holes at least ½” in diameter drilled in trunk floor under and around fuel cell are recommended.
5. No plastic fuel lines allowed.
6. No electric or belt driven fuel pumps allowed.
7. Only automotive gasoline will be used, no additives, no airplane fuel or no racing gas may be used. Fuel must pass Inspection Fuel Test. A first time fail will result in loss of all points and monies for that event, a $100.00 fine. 2nd fail will result in loss of all monies for that event, loss of all points for the season, $500.00 fine and 6 event suspension on a rolling calendar year.
8. Fuel lines running through cockpit will be inside steel conduit.
9. No cool cans allowed, one fuel filter only. 

BRAKES

1. All cars must have four (4) wheel hydraulic brakes in good operating condition.  No shutoff or restrictor valves allowed.
2. Brakes are subject to inspection by track officials at any time.
3. Brake components shall all be O.E.M. 

TIRES AND WHEELS

1. Tires may be any D.O.T. approved highway car tire with a sidewall-to-sidewall width of 9 ½” maximum. NO G60 TIRES OF ANY MAKE. NO RACING RECAPS, MUD TIRES, NO OTHER DOT RACING TIRES, CONDITIONING OR SOFTENING.  Only grooving allowed to deepen existing tread pattern. Check with Tech Inspector before regrooving tires.
2. Wheels shall be steel; max 7” wide, no homemade wheels, no bead locks of any type.
3.Reinforced steel wheels are required. All wheels subject to approval by the tech committee.
4. 1” lug nuts are required. 

STEERING, CHASSIS, SUSPENSION, REAR AXLE AND TRANSMISSION

1. Suspension and steering shall be stock.  NO AFTER MARKET RACING PARTS.
2. Quick release steering wheel is optional.
3. Any approved O.E.M. passenger car type or truck rear end may be used.  No aluminum allowed.  A one-inch inspection hole in center section is recommended.  Full steel spool, steel mini spool or welded rear ends only.  Steel axles only.  No quick-change devices allowed.  No cambered rear ends, one-piece drive flange only.  No electronic or mechanical traction control devices allowed.  No floating axles. C clip eliminators required on all GM rear ends.    Locked rear ends are REQUIRED.  A 360 degree shaft loop is required and must be constructed of minimum 1/8”x 2” steel and shall be mounted not less than six (6) inches nor more than twelve (12) inches from the front universal joint.
4. Steel Drive shafts only, minimum diameter 2”, must be painted white. Clean before every race.
5. Original shocks may be replaced with heavy-duty shocks.  No racing or air shocks allowed.
6. Only one shock per wheel allowed, must be in stock location.
7. Transmission must be stock O.E.M. automatic, with stock torque converter or manual shift with a single disc O.E.M. clutch, and must have reverse and all forward gears working.  No aluminum flywheels.  Shifters shall be lever design.8. Standard transmissions are required to be equipped with a blow proof bell housing
IDENTIFICATION/CAR NUMBERS

1. Car numbers shall be on both side doors and on the roof.
2. Car numbers shall be clearly marked in contrasting colors.
3. Car numbers shall be a minimum of twenty (20) inches tall and four (4) inches wide.


ENGINE AND CARBURETOR

1. May run any engine in any car. Maximum cubic inch allowed, GM 360, Ford 364, Mopar 370. Engine must have cast iron intake manifold, cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds. (No headers) Mufflers required, one per bank.
2.  All cars run a 2 barrel 500 CFM or smaller Carburetor (a maximum 1” spacer).  No aftermarket Holly’s or race carburetors allowed. Engine must have a minimum of 12 inches of vacuum at idle (1000 RPM).
3. All cars must have hydraulic flat tappet lifters. ABSOLOUTELY NO ROLLER, SOLID, OR VARIABLE DURATION LIFTERS.

CLAIMING RULES

1.      Any car finishing in the top five places in the main event may claim any other driver’s engine for $300, plus the claimers engine. $200, plus the claimers engine will go to the owner of the claimed engine.

2.      In order to make a claim, the claimer’s car must drive across the finish line under it’s own power.

3.      Claimer’s engine must be mechanically sound, running on all cylinders and have no leaking fluids (except normal heat displacement of water).

4.      Engines will be removed at the track. A member of the tech committee will remain in each pit until the engines are removed and exchanged.

5.      Engines will be marked when they are removed from the car in order to identify the engine for future claims.

6.      When a claim is made, the only parts included in the claim are the long block with heads intake manifold, and valve covers. Carburetor,   distributor, water pump, power steering pump, alternator, and fuel pump are not included in the claim, and will not be exchanged.

7.      Each member of the class may claim a maximum of two (2) engines per season.

8.      To claim an engine, it must be the same make of the engine in the claimers car (i.e. Chevy to Chevy, Pontiac to Pontiac Ford to Ford).

9.      After claiming an engine, you must be present at the next race night with the engine you previously claimed. Engines will be marked by track officials for identification. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of all season points.  

10.  A cars engine may not be claimed its first night at the track.

11.  In the case that a racer refuses a claim on his or her engine, all season points and pay outs will be forfeited.

12.  After the main event, all five cars must go directly to tech.

13.  Claims are only eligible for fifteen minutes following the main event. Written claims, as well as $300 cash must be given to a member of the tech committee by the driver of the claiming car.

14.  If two members of the class attempt to claim and engine at the same time, only the claimer who handed in their written claim with $300 cash first will be accepted.
