2010 Go-Kart Rules

                  



1. Ages 7 to13 yrs at the start of the season or younger with signed parental release form.  Only one parent must be present during racing.

2. Good heavy shoes, No exposed toes.

3. Racing suits or coveralls mandatory.(reccomended that coveralls are washed in baking soda for fire retardand purposes) 

4.NO PASSENGER ALLOWED

5. Gloves, leather/BMX type

6. Helmet in good condition with chin guard.

7. Youth neck brace.

8. Eye protection, safety glasses, and goggles or face shield.

9. Arm restraints, or window nets (on both sides of kart).

Kart can be purchase or hand built rear wheel driven only.  Hand made kart chassis will be made of minimum ½ outside diameter with minimum thickness of .083. NO CONDUIT!

All race ready karts will weigh a minimum of 275 pounds with driver.  Minimum wheelbase is 40” inches (from wheel center to wheel center), no wider than 50” inches (outside of tire to outside of tire) , tire no taller 14’’ inches and no tires wider than 8’’ inches. Tire measurement must be the same on both sides.  No adjustable camber or caster on front axle.  Camber and caster must be the same on both sides.  Kart must have a maximum of one 6.5 hp air-cooled, four stroke, and stock gasoline engine.  Must be stock.  Must have stock camshaft, connecting rods, carburetor, head and flywheel keyway.  Cylinder bore maximum will be .035 oversize.  Kart will be single speed, centrifugal clutch, with chain or belt drive to rear wheel/axle.  Drives will be covered.  NO RACING CLUTCHES!  Kart will have a kill switch in driver reach. Labeled OFF.  Kart will have a solid metal belly an under rider. .  Kart will have a working throttle and brake pedals.  Brake to be disc or drum type.  Kart will have a rear bumper extending rearward past the rear tires and be as wide as kart, with a minimum of 1 bar in it.  Kart will have a front bumper extending forward past the front tires with a 6-inch hoop mounted vertical for foot protection. NO CONDUIT!

Kart will have side kickers between the front and rear tires. These will extend past the outside of the front and rear tires.  Minimum width of kicker is 4 inches.  Kart will have a roll bar behind driver going from right side to left side that extends over the driver’s helmet. They must also have two bars coming down from the head bar to the front of the kart.  This shall be made of1/2 inch or more diameter steel tubing (NO CONDUIT) with a minimum thickness of .065 (or factory tubing).  All bumpers, kickers and roll bars will be securely attached to the frame.  Kart will have a padded seat with a minimum of 2-point seat belts.

Kart tires must be inflatable.  Racing tires allowed NO GROOVING!

Kart will have a number visible from both sides. 

 All karts will be approved by the TECH COMMITEE before being allowed to race

ALL NEW COMERS WILL HAVE A TWO LAP TEST PERIOD BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO

COMPETE IN A RACE.  THIS IS TO CHECK FOR DRIVING ABILITY AND SAFETY.  ALL DRIVERS WILL KNOW WHAT EACH FLAG MEANS>

Competitors under the age of eighteen may consider having checks made out to guardian in order to maintain amateur status for high school/college level sports ect.
